Knights stave off elimination with 3-2 victory

The Alden-Conger volleyball team kept its season alive by rallying from a two-set deficit Monday against Randolph in Alden.

The eighth-seeded Knights (5-20) lost the first two sets 25-22, 25-19, but took the final three 25-19, 25-23, 15-12 to advance to the next round of the 1A west subsection playoffs. Alden-Conger will meet No. 1 seed Bethlehem Academy Thursday in Faribault.

Randolph, the No. 9 seed, had just beaten the Knights Thursday 23-25, 26-24, 22-25, 25-19, 15-5, but with its back against the wall Alden-Conger responded.

Katie Hallman had 13 kills, including three ace blocks and Taylor Martin added seven kills for the Knights.

Alli Songstad had 22 assists and Allyssa Maras 32 digs for Alden-Conger.
