USC/A-C cross country teams place 2nd at Waseca
Published Saturday, October 10, 2009
The United South Central girls’ and boys’ cross country teams competed at the Waseca Invitational Thursday.
The girls finished second behind the second-rated team from Waseca.
The boys finished behind the eighth-rated boys from Waseca and Gopher/Valley rival WEM/JWP.
The Rebel boys were led by Daniel Elmer, who finished in fourth place. Thane O’Rourke (15th), Josh Meine (17th), Brett Stevermer (21st), and Seth Treptow (22nd) were the other scorers for the Rebels.
Leading the girls with her strongest race of the season was Taylor Allis (ninth). Hannah Goemann (12th), Amber Erickson (13th), Andree Escherich (17th), and Abby Trio (18th) also scored for the Rebels.
“The times didn’t mean much,” said USC/A-C head coach Kent Viesselman. “They had to improvise a little bit to accommodate both some new construction on the course, and the recent wet weather. Both the girls’ and boys’ courses ran very slow.”
